Between the Lines
GOOD WORK
Traffic cops are essential in the morning. The absence of the boys in blue on the roads lead to congestion and this was seen last week. Keep up the good work.
HEALTH RISK
A standard needs to be set for trucks picking rubbish. Young men at the back of a truck and sitting on top of refuse is not only an ugly scene but a health and safety risk.
SUPPORT
The opposition party collected more than NZ$300,000 during dinner functions held in the Land of the Long White Clouds. The support for the party seems to be strong.
REGISTRATION
It would be good to know how many people have come forward and registered again with the Office of the Electoral Commissioner. Hopefully, young voters have also come forward.
GUNS
A cash-for-gun initiative is needed to reduce the number of illegal firearms in the country. The alarming number of incidents with guns in a small country is very alarming.
VIOLENCE
Tranquility at a bus terminal was broken when a man started beating up his wife in public. While the police intervened, it was sad to see people videoing the incident rather than helping the woman.
