Remembering Kale and our Peace Corps friends

Dear Editor

Re: Peace Corps in Samoa

It was so good to see the face of some of the Peace Corps that had served here in our country over the past years.

They did not just serve us but also they blessed so many of our people.

I was happy to see Pinati again and some others. It reminded me of a few friends married to Peace Corps until now and we still get in touch.

Come to think of it, that was another big contribution to our islands, to marry and have kids living in America.

Wow, not just carrying a tattoo but also the language plus married to our people and change so many lives.

I remember one Peace Corp who stayed with my cousins before.

Her name is Carley. When she comes home, we always called her in Samoan:  Ua magava Kale?

She would respond: E le ko le magava o Kale.

It was hilarious.

Now every time we talk about pisikoa we always remember Kale. It is a beautiful memory.

I also want to give thanks to some of the Peace Corps that we worked together before at the post office.

I still remember Armand Nadeau, Mirriam, Fred, Paul and others.

Fa’afetai tele lava for your contribution to our country. We wish you the best.
