The Fight For Marist II is shaping up to be one of the greatest boxing nights in Samoa.

The competition will feature the best boxing talents the South Pacific has to offer with amateur fights, corporate fights and a professional fight on the cards.

Yesterday, the Marist International Sports Week Committee unveiled the corporate fights lineup.

Competing companies and sporting bodies will battle to settle which one is the best with four battles looming.

They are:

• Battle of the Sports:  Which is better Rugby League or Rugby Union? The long debated question of which code is better will finally be settled as the  Samoa Rugby Union (S.R.U) will take on  Rugby League Samoa(R.L.S).  Both sporting bodies have selected their top man to defend their title.  Representing the S.R.U is Manu Samoa’s Danny Tusitala.  Representing R.L.S. is Aneri Seiuli, who is a former Toa Samoa player.

• Battle of the Law Services:  Keeping Samoa safe, the L.T.A. and Top Security will head into the ring to settle which is the most powerful.   The fighters for this bout will be: Fred Mikaele and Apineru Mitai

• Battle of the Fai Pe’a’s:  Adorned in traditional Samoan tattoos, these two men have already proved their strength and endurance.  Still Tofilau Atatagi and Una Levaai will fight to the finish to see who’s the best.

• Battle of the Minds -  T.B.A.

Apart from the corporate bouts,  F.F.M II will be a night of entertainment, excitement and of course, great boxing.

A great number of amateur fighters have been confirmed from across the Pacific who will journey to Samoa to fight for the top place.

Fighters will come from Australia, New Zealand, Tonga and American Samoa with 15 local fighters who will go toe to toe in the ring.

The South Australian fighters have already named a strong  side and will be the team to beat.

The team is lead by Bodo Andreas, the Australian Olympic Boxing Coach and International Amateur Boxing Association Coach.  All of the South Australian boxers are Australian and Golden Gloves Champions and represented Australia in the elite levels of boxing.

The line up announced yesterday includes Ryan Goodes, Bradon Dunning, Adrian Cammarano, Stephen Finey, Terry Nickolas and one female boxer, Rebecca Daniels.

During the International Sport Week, Mr. Andreas will be hosting coaching clinincs to develop local coaches.

Last but not least, the professional bout will be between Australia’s Jai Opetaia and son of Samoa, Toni Fereti.
