Music lovers and fans of urban reggae in Samoa are in for a treat.
Next Friday, 9 February 2018, they will be able to kick back at the Tanoa Tusitala and relax to the smooth vocals and musical talent of two of the currently hottest sounds in Samoan and urban reggae: Sammielz and Samoa’s own Ozki Band.
Sam ‘Sammielz’ Leota is a spirited young man motivated by the three most important things in his life: God, Family and Music. The singer of Samoan descent currently calls Sydney home but was born and raised on the streets of Otara in South Auckland, New Zealand.
The strong sense of culture and tradition that Sammielz received from his family was instrumental in his determination to stay off the streets and pursue a successful music career.
Sammielz has been number one in N.Z. and Hawaii with one of his well-known songs ‘Let Us Be’ staying in the number one spot for almost the entire year in 2016.
The friendly and down-to-earth artist has travelled and toured right through the Pacific Islands to the U.S. and parts of Asia in the past ten years as an independent artist. This will be his first live performance in Samoa, promoting his new album ‘Love Process’.
Sammielz’ goal is to pass on as much as knowledge as he can from what he’s learnt and picked up along the way in a hope to help the next generation of his people excel and do better.
The other half of this dynamic duo concert is Samoa’s own Ozki Band who need no introduction having been a part of the local music and entertainment scene for several years.
The Ozki brothers started wowing audiences way back in 2011 when they first burst on the local music scene as young but very professional and extremely talented musicians.
With their unique blend of contemporary and old school favourites and distinctive soulful harmonies, it is difficult to think of an event or function where you have not seen or heard them perform. In the past six years they have re-recorded old Samoan favourites as well as recorded several original compositions, many of which you’ve probably heard on the radio.
It will definitely be a tough job to stay in your seat once the Ozki starts playing, you’ll be on your feet moving to the beat and singing along to the lyrics, they are true entertainers. The bonus for the audience? They will get to hear Ozki’s new single, a composition which promises to be a hit for music lovers everywhere.
The Sammielz and Ozki Band Concert partnership expresses appreciation to its friends and sponsors for helping with the 9 February event: Tanoa Tusitala Hotel, TV3, Eazyprint and Su’a Tafili Tatau.
Sammielz arrives from today. Concert tickets are $50 prepaid and $60 at the door and can be purchased from Tanoa Tusitala, TV3, Eazyprint or by calling 7573374 and 7288891.
