Miss Samoa touches down in Fiji for Miss Pacific

Miss Samoa, Papali’i Alexandra Iakopo, has touched down in Fiji for the Miss Pacific Pageant.

The Pageant is celebrating her 31st birthday in Nadi Fiji this week with nine contestants vying for the 2017 crown.

At the launching at the Novotel Nadi, Executive Director of the Miss Pacific Secretariat who is also the Chief Executive of the Samoa Tourism Authority, Papali’i Sonja Hunter, acknowledged the preparations by the host.

She recalled that since the first Miss Pacific Pageant in 1985, the annual show has gone from strength to strength noting that it’s more than a beauty pageant but a platform for Pacific women to showcase their contribution to the region as role models, leaders and contributors for the well-being of the region.

“The Miss Pacific Pageant is also about our artists and fashion designers who continue to impress and show the world their natural talents that we in the Pacific have developed to gain international respect,” said Papali’i.

And the results in the order of appearances and Pre-pageant interviews topics drawn are as follows;

  • Miss Nauru- Gender Equality
  • Miss Solomon Islands- Education
  • Miss Papua New Guinea - Tourism
  • Miss Easter Islands -Politics
  • Miss Samoa- Culture
  • Miss Cook Islands- Climate Change 
  • Miss Tonga-Technology
  • Miss Fiji- Environment
  • Miss American Samoa- Health
