The reality is simple enough.

More and more people are looking for jobs in Samoa but there are not many openings available.

Andrew Nauer, 17, from Faleula is one of many people looking for work.

Mr. Nauer was on his way to gather vegetables for his aunty when the Village Voice team met him yesterday morning.

Mr. Nauer said he was looking for a job to support his family.

“I am currently looking for a job at the moment to support my family through the hard life here we have today in Samoa.

“I am not working but at the moment I am just helping my aunty bring her vegetables to this shop nearby and sell there.”

Mr. Nauer said there were 10 people in his family and only one person worked to support them.

“We also make money from selling vegetables but it is not enough and that is why I am looking for a job right now.

“So for now, I am just sticking with this work but in the bigger picture, I am looking for another job for more extra money to support my family.”

Mr. Nauer also mentioned that he left school two years ago because of their family’s financial situation.

“My family couldn’t afford my school fees so I decided to stay home and do some work to earn a few bucks around here up until now.

“And now I am thinking and interested in getting a new job so I can make more money for my family.”

He also admitted that he really needs a job now to support his family.

Mr. Nauer said he was a hard working person and he was good at any work given to him.

“I am a hard working person and I am good at any line of work.

“I really need a job right now so that I can help support my family in any way possible.”

For anyone willing to help Mr. Nauer, his mobile phone number is 776 9946.
