The Salesulu Reunion – A small but cherished occasion

It is not often that reunions last for four weeks but that was the case for the Salesulu Galugalu and Mele Salesulu family who have their roots in Apolima, Lepa and Salelologa.

Salesulu Galugalu and his late wife Mele Fa’ala Salesulu were blessed with five children.

In July of 2018, Mele Salesulu succumbed in her valiant battle with oesophagus cancer which she had battled so bravely with since 2011.

One of Salesulu and Mele’s children namely Leufisa died at child birth. Three of the remaining four live in Samoa which is where they decided to have their family reunion.

Salesulu and Mele’s three children who live in Samoa are in all the E.F.K.S. Ministry and it was only fitting that the eldest child Sa’u Isaia who resides in New Zealand would travel with other family members to Samoa to enjoy the festivities.

The proceeding began with celebration of Sefulu Patu’s 50th Birthday which was held at Taumeasina Resort.

This was the beginning of other fun events which included karaoke, a hike to Mt. Vaea, Tag Rugby, Quiz nights and an excursion to Piula Pools.

It is hoped that this reunion will be an annual event depending of the heath of Salesulu Galugalu.

The reunion also proved that it is not the numbers of the reunion but the spirit, zeal and commitment to family and God which is the main ingredient. The Reunion concluded on New Year’s Day 2019 with a Toanai
