The elderly father caught up with the Village Voice yesterday while he was doing some chores around the house.

While he said life is generally good in his village, his one concern was the road to his house.

“We want this road fixed,” he said.

“It’s been a year now since they had it fixed only because the E.P.C project needed our water for power, which we’re thankful for that.

“However we are concerned because it hasn’t been fixed properly for a long time now.

“As a result, that dust coming from the road during sunny days is totally bad for our health. Sometimes hanging our washing out to dry only  comes back dirtier.

“When it rains heavily, it’s worse because of the dirt.”

The elderly calls on the government to fix the road.

“I’m concerned because of the health of my children and the things in the house which get ruined from all the dust.

“I know this problem doesn’t happen in just one village in Samoa but we just really need help.

“We need better access roads… and if access roads are not good it will be hard for us to make a living every day.”
