Sometimes we have to be careful not to let problems in life become more important than our relationship with God.

Twenty year old Kavina Letoa from Vaitele-Fou who attends the Church of the Latter Day Saints, explains it for you.

Speaking to the Village Voice team yesterday, Kavina believes that “when God leads”, everything will fall into place.

“I attend youth programmes in my church and we learn a lot of ways to avoid living in life to please God, not man,” he said.

“It’s not that I’m perfect, but I think that everyone should try to live in ways that are in line with what is in the Bible.

“That’s the only way to live a very peaceful life – when we live in Godly ways.

“It’s hard, but we’ll surely enjoy it if we try and live with it.”

He said many young people rejected God.

“They think that their strength is enough to deal with so much happening in life,” Kavina said.

“But it causes them to become bogged down with worry, resentment and bitterness and later shows up as sickness and disease in their bodies.

“But with Him, we can enjoy our lives abundantly.”

Kavina said parents need to nurture and train young people.

“Our parents learnt how to do all the things; they know now through observation.” 

“And for me, as a youth, if I want to become a great leader in the future, then the proper way to do this is to learn by observing the elders, by observing my mother and father.

“We should observe what they do within our families, our leaders are our elders and our parents know how they deal with problems.

“We can learn so much just by serving them and talking to them, having time to listen to them and stop complaining all the time.”
