There is a cry from many people that seems to be going unanswered.

With people struggling in Samoa due to poverty, Avako Gose says he is a victim of this.

The father of six girls he shared his desperation over the lack of water and contributing problems.

“We really need water tanks in our homes because we don’t have water every day. 

Want and need are two different things. When you want something you can actually still live without it, but when you need something it is a must to have that for survival,” he told the Village Voice team yesterday.

He said the reason they still have not got a water tank at home is because they simply do not have the money to buy one.

Mr. Gaso is from Fasitoo-Uta and he said both he and his wife did not work and they only have one daughter who works at the St. Therese Samoa Retreat and Accommodation. 

He said she does not earn much so they mostly rely on their plantation for survival.

“We have three daughters who live with us right now out of the six girls. One of our daughters works at the St Therese that’s located at Leauva’a, but what she earns is not enough for all of us.

“That is why my wife and I work in our plantation and sell our crops to help our only daughter who is working with things at home,” he said.

They may work the land, but the problems that they face do not end there. Mr. Gaso tries to overcome one problem only to have other issues presented to him.

“Our problems do not end there. When we come to work in the plantation, we face another matter which is that we do not have any tools or equipment.

“We cannot even afford to buy to buy the proper equipment for the plantation which is why we take forever to work the land. It gets more difficult,” he said.
