The Samoa Cancer Society (S.C.S) has thanked Lucky Foodtown for its continuous support towards the Society’s outreach and patient support services.

The expression of appreciation follows the presentation of a cheque for $5,890.25 from Lucky Foodtown’s Managing Director, Tagaloatele Marlene Westerlund, to the Executive Officer of S.C.S, Shelley Burich.

The money will be used to support the Society’s outreach programmes and patient support services.

The money represents a percentage of proceeds from sei pua and wristband sales at Lucky Foodtown for the year 2015 plus $500 worth of grocery vouchers for patient needs such as adult pampers, talcum powder, wipes, moisturizers, hand sanitizers, fruit and Ensure food supplements.

All these items are stocked at S.C.S and are distributed to S.C.S cancer patients when requested.

“Having Lucky Foodtown and their team as active supporters for the Society’s patient support services allows us to continue helping patients and their families deal with the burden of living with cancer in Samoa,” says Ms. Burich. “We are extremely grateful for their assistance.”

She added: “Under the World Cancer Day campaign theme for 2016 ‘We can, I can’. The local business community support from Lucky Foodtown, represents the unique opportunity to draw attention to what we can do together to address cancer.”

The sale of wristbands, sei puas will continue at Lucky Foodtown.

There is also a dedicated S.C.S donation boxes at the store to help with the much needed funding resources the society requires to keep its services operating effectively and efficiently.
