Signage would have helped

A lack of signage was probably the only irritation for voters who made their way to the voting booths in an orderly fashion for yesterday’s General Elections.

At Malifa, one voter told of going to 10 different rooms to find the Apia Urban East booth before giving up the search and registering a Special vote – a process that takes longer.

Out west, at Si’ufaga in the Falelatai district, the moderate temperatures made it reasonably pleasant for the good-natured crowd of around 50 who waited to register their votes.

However, one voter who was seeking a venue which provided for Special votes, drove to two different polling booths back in Samatau before finding the correct one - off the main road.

“Simple signage would have made all the difference and saved time,” she said.

Other than that, voters have another wait of five years before the process will be repeated.
