The Commissioner of Police opened the second Operational Safety Instructors Training for the Samoa Police Service (S.P.S.) last week.

This training is made possible with the ongoing assistance of the Samoa Australia Police Partnership project.

The training was delivered by the Australia Federal Police and the Royal Solomon Island Police Force.

The training focused on the use of force standards and best practices which are recognised in both Australia and New Zealand.

“This approach to delivering trainings in the Pacific helps standardize regional police trainings within the context of local laws and legislations.

“Operational Safety Training supports Police officers in the execution of their duties and the legal requirement pertaining to the appropriate use of force.

“The S.P.S. recognised the need for all sworn officers to receive this training in our efforts to enhance the standards of our service delivery to the people of Samoa.

“S.P.S. would like to acknowledge the Australian Federal Police and also the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force for its continuous support.”
