Local players do well at Netball camp

Five local players travelled to Auckland last weekend for their first training camp with others in the U21 Netball training squad.  It was a hard, tough and exhausting camp for these young players that experienced what it is like at the next level of netball.

C.E.O. of Netball Samoa Rosemarie Esera said the players did really well in the series of fitness tests and netball drills which proved the strength and conditioning training which started back in November last year is working and producing some positive results.

“One of the areas that we still need to focus and work on with our players is the reading of the game and decision making on the court.”

“We are planning to provide our players with regular games every week and shall be calling upon our national netball league players for their assistance and support.”

Rosemarie continued to say that the level and depth of skills demonstrated at the camp is promising for the team who will be competing in the Oceania Qualifiers mid September this year in Auckland to qualify for the 2017 World Youth Cup in Botswana.

Our five local players are Romania Pose, Amanaki Lautusi, Gaufa Salesa, Nazarena Lameko and Roseanne Moananu.
