Beaming with confidence

Don’t discount Esther Timoteo Tupuola Paulo, the Miss Royalty Creation, as a contender who may walk away with the Bluesky Miss Samoa Pageant 2016 crown.

Although she is youngest in the line up, 19 year old Esther is fully aware of what lies ahead.

“I’m not in the pageant just for the experience,” says the 2014 Leifiifi College graduate now pursuing a medical degree as a Foundation Year student with the N.U.S. Faculty of Science.

“Nothing is easy and the pageant is the perfect avenue for me to challenge myself and test my limitations.

“If I don’t believe in myself, then everything will be in vain.

“And competing in the pageant has been a wonderful, learning experience that will come in handy as I begin to grow and become more mature,” she continued.

“The pageant is already giving me a lot valuable experience that will certainly make me a better person in terms of self esteem and public exposure.

“And I am grateful, but at the end of the day, it’s what you take away from events of this magnitude that make a difference.

“Win or lose, this is the most memorable time of my young life.”

Esther is targeting a range of issues affecting the youth of Samoa, which include inter-school violence in public places and youth gangs.

“Young people should understand that their actions reflect poorly on their parents, their families and Samoa.

“My advice to the troubled youths is to become assets and not liabilities to our country. “Violence doesn’t resolve anything.

“And last but not least, we the young people are the future of Samoa so we must all consider the collateral damage of poor behaviour that will  ruin our country’s reputation and the future of Samoa’s youth.”

Esther is from a family of five sisters and five brothers. Her parents are Timoteo Paulo and Mrs Onopene Paulo hailing from Vaivase-tai, Saanapu, Poutasi Faleali’i and Siumu.
