On her first day in Samoa on her first official visit as New Zealand’s Jacinda Ardern inspected the Guard of Honour in front of the Government Building as her first official duty in Samoa.

It was her first official visit as New Zealand’s Prime Minister on a tour that includes stops in Tonga, Niue and the Cook Islands.

The Prime Minister and her delegation – including Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vaovasamanaia Winston Peters – had a full day, starting with joint media conference with Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi.

While the trip which include New Zealand’s politicians, representatives from charities and Pasifika community leaders is an annual affair, this year’s visit comes as the Ardern new administration signals an increased focus on doing more for New Zealand’s neighbors.
