Lauititi strides with pride

Samoa’s weightlifter, Lauititi Lui, led the Team Samoa during the athletes’ parade at the opening of the XXI Commonwealth Games 2018.

The Game, held at the Gold Coast, Australia, was officially opened by the Prince Charles, who was accompanied by his wife, Camilla. 

Lauititi held the Samoa’s national flag with pride among 71 other Commonwealth country flag bearers at the Carrara Stadium.  

The Games is set for 11 days of incredible sporting action with 71 countries competing against each other. 

It is the fifth time for Australia to host this event. 

The opening ceremony also marked the end of the 388 days journey of the of the Queen’s Baton relay around the Commonwealth Nations.
