Eighty-year-old So’olefai Iosefa from Leusoali’i wears many hats. A wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Sunday school teacher and most outstandingly, she’s one of the longest serving members of ‘Au-uso Fealofani of the Methodist Church in Samoa.

On Monday night, she was one of more than ten elderly mothers honored by the ‘Au-uso Fealofani and the Methodist Church for reaching their eighty-years.

“I just wanted to say that my church is a wonderful gift from God, a gift by which God promises to mature me in Him,” she said. “He uses the church to encourage and equip from the time I was young up until now… I know my church care for me…they support me and point me to Christ.

“Now…I’m getting old and I’m praying that my children would continue to serve Him through the church.

“I am a mother of six, and I love equipping others to serve …I love serving the church." At 80, she says that her secret for longevity - is prayer.

“I think that’s why, I’m still here… pretty and young at all times…because I love praying,” she laughed.

“When we get closer to Him, He’ll draw near to us as well…nothing will come between us and God if we welcome Him during bad and good times.

“No matter what life brings but if we know that God is still in control nothing will hold us from His blessings."

Mrs. Iosefa surrounds herself with family who provide love and support every day.

“When I think and look at my children, I thank God for the wonderful gifts God has entrusted,” she said.

“I always pray that my children see me as a woman of love and fairness and a…servant of God, and I love being a mother to my children and to the church."

Mrs. Iosefa admitted that sickness didn’t stop her from serving the church.

“God knows my heart is to serve Him with all my heart even though I’m not feeling well because of my legs, but in my heart, I want to continue on in serving Him.

“Tonight's service was incredible…and I’m still praying that this wouldn’t be my last service with members of the ‘Au-uso Fealofani and my children."
