Transforming your mind for good health

1Touch Ministries has just completed its 14th Health Transformation Bootcamp Challenge since it began in 2014.

Last week their prize-giving was held the Orator Hotel, and Taunese Misa - Lene took out the overall prize as she won the Tuliaupupu Pala Lima trophy for a second straight time. Her back to back wins have been nothing short of inspirational, but there’s always a ‘test’ that comes before a powerful testimony.

And as Taunese puts it, eating smart has been a work in progress.

“I was someone who loved sweets”, says Taunese. “I was never someone that loved to eat healthy food such as fish, soup, and vegetables. I came so close to having diabetes. Before I joined the Bootcamp, I would often feel sick and suffer from dizziness, headaches and all sorts of other sicknesses”.

Taunese decided then it was time to do something about it and joined the 1Touch Ministries Bootcamp Challenge in January this year.

“The first few weeks of the Challenge were difficult but I thought I was okay for a beginner”.

After the first two weeks, Taunese found her energy levels increasing and so did her confidence, and at the end of the Challenge, she became 1Touch Ministries 13th winner.

“To be honest, I was quite overwhelmed, and very surprised with how I went. You know, there were so many doubts because this was all foreign to me. Even my own family was doubting my commitment to the course. But I was extremely grateful after I won.”

Unlike many, who tend to struggle with sustaining the weight they worked so hard to lose during the course of the Challenge, Taunese wasn’t satisfied and was hungry for more, so she registered for the next Challenge.

“I was more excited with my decision to transform my lifestyle because it really changed everything for me. I’m feeling healthier and happier these days and it keeps pushing me and motivating me to keep going so I can achieve my dream goal, which is to go back to my normal weigh of 75kgs”.

And two weeks ago, Taunese achieved that goal and went on to win the Challenge for a second straight time.

“I’m extremely honored to win the trophy twice in a row. When I first found out about the late Tuliaupupu Pala Lima’s wish to bring 1Touch Ministries to Samoa, it really hit me. It makes it even more special now to win this trophy and have my name printed on it. I was inspired by Tuliaupupu’s story.

But I suppose, this whole programme is not about getting first place or the trophy. It should be about how you can transform yourself and how you can maintain that shape and healthy living. If you know you’ve made a positive change, then that’s the biggest reward you can get out of this and I believe that was Tuliaupupu’s vision, to make a healthy and positive transformation to our lives”.

So is there any advice from 1Touch Ministries’ back to back winner?

“Stop doubting yourself and believe in your ability. I have so many friends that I’m trying to reach out to in order to make a similar transition. If you can transform your mind and stay positive, then everything will be okay.

Anyone can do it. I suppose our biggest weakness is with our diet. That was probably the hardest part for me. But I can tell you, once you’re in this flow of a new healthy diet then you will feel normal and more excited to continue. Your family also needs to be on board; their support is very important”.

And for her support team?

“Oh I’m extremely grateful to the 1Touch Ministries family.

I don’t think I have enough words to explain how grateful I am to this amazing group of people, especially the Directors, Pastor Lenny and Tai Solomona and our Personal Trainers and Admin Team. I have never met an exciting and passionate group like these people before.

The Trainers are truly professionals and so helpful. I was inspired by their success stories. The food diary tips were really helpful. When the Bootcamp director advised me in the registration week about the nutrition side, it really caught my attention. It was the first time I took my nutrition seriously.”

1Touch Ministries started the next 10 Week Challenge, with a NUTRITION PRESENTATION on yesterday at the Tatte Building (Conference room, ground level) from 5.00pm to 7.00pm. It’s FREE to the public.

Registration for the upcoming Challenge is open to the public today and Friday 6th and 7th July at the same address from 4.00pm to 6.00pm.

The cost to join the Challenge is $100.
