Bring Tom Conventry to coach Manu Samoa

Dear Editor,

Here’s a fact! No local coach has what it takes to coach an international team like the Manu. No offense, but the game is now very technical and driven by logical thinking that is way beyond the capability of what’s available locally.

You also need to be active in coaching at the highest level to take on an assignment like the Manu Samoa. This very much counts against Fuimaono Dicky and Muliaga Brian.

The game has moved on from their outdated techniques and training methods. I too believe that Alama should have been given the benefit of the doubt to see out the development he was working on.

Anyway, the decision has been made which now seems to be a trend in the handling of the national team.

It’s sad to read about the involvement of some people as I really thought they are educated people that they would have put the team and the country first.

But then they seem to have been influenced by the political disease that is slowing eating away the sanity of the people of this nation.

It’s a well-known fact with the recent decisions of the P.M. and his H.R.P.P. that they take care of themselves and their families, stuff what everyone else thinks. It’s like doom if you don’t support us.

Back to the team, I think the best man to take the Manu Samoa forward is Tom Coventry. He was involved with the team when they were playing some of their best rugby and was pretty much doing all the work the head coach was suppose to do.

I just hope that he has not pulled back from applying by the corruption and incompetence of previous campaigns. Encourage him to apply and give him the full package wasted on Sir Gordon Tietjens.

P.K.
