Jean Shuldberg of American Samoa and her husband are no strangers to Samoa.

This is the third time the 70-year-old and her husband have visited.

“Not only do we choose to come here because we love Samoa, but also it’s quick to come here because it’s close to where we are currently staying,” Jean said.

“We also choose to come here because it’s very beautiful and we’re members of the L.D.S. (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints), so we come to see the temple at Pesega, as well.”

And even though the couple are only here for a short time, they are looking forward to some of the entertainment offered as part of the Teuila Festival.

“Our first two visits in Samoa, we spent our time at the Samoa Cultural Village on Beach Road and we actually loved it. I mean, with all the demonstrations and cultural activities -- it was fun and we just loved it,” Jean said.

“Oh and the food; my favorite dish is the oka and chicken curry. I mean, I don’t know if there’s such a thing as Samoan curry, but I’m clearly stating that I love the chicken curry made in Samoa.”

Yesterday was just their first day but they were pumped.

“Even if we are only here for two days, we are just going to make use of those two days here watching the Samoan culture and traditions being showcased by its different citizens. That’s why we are here -- because we wanted to see the festival.”

Jean went on to say that she would definitely recommend Samoa to other people.

“I don’t really like the weather sometimes but I think Samoa is beautiful,” she said.

“The people are wonderful and there’s a lot of energy, and it seems to me that people want to improve, like the roads are better now and it just shows how the Samoans are, they are people who are always finding ways to improve everything in their country.

“Also, the people are always friendly and you know with that personality, it makes you feel warm and welcomed.

“That’s one of the reasons why I would recommend Samoa; because of its’ people.”
