Family struggles without water and electricity

Posese Senelefao knows life is challenging.

The 47-year-old father of nine does his best to keep this family happy.

Married to Su’esu’e, they have recently relocated to Faleasi’u from Lalomauga where they had lived.

But the relocation has come with some difficulties. The family does not have water and electricity.

“Back at Lalomauga, we used to have access to the water system as well as electricity, but when we moved here, things became difficult for us,” said Posese.

For such a big family, fetching water for food, bathing and drinking is a responsibility Posese and Suesue carry out every day.

“We don’t always cook our food here as well as take a bath,” he said.

“Sometimes we have to take our kids to my mother’s place, not far from here, so we can bath them and fill a gallon with water for drinking, and then we bring it back here.”

Still, Posese is optimistic.

He said they relocated from Lalomauga because of some family issues and they are happy where they are today.

“When we had that problem back at Lalomauga with our family and our village, we decided to move here,” he said.

“Although we are struggling everyday to fetch water from my mother-in-law’s house, we are a lot of happier.”

The children are settling in and they are finding their feet.

“For now, all that we need is a water tank,” he said.

“I’m hopeful we will have water in the future, and electricity, but in the meantime, we just need some help to get started at our new place.”

Posese will accept any help that he can get for a water tank.
