Work and a little bit of pleasure.

That brought Jas Singh, 46, to Samoa this week from New Zealand where he lives with his wife and family.

Mr. Singh caught up with the Dear Tourist team while he was working by the swimming pool on his laptop. He even offered a helpful tip to boost Samoan tourism.

“This is not my first time here in Samoa and the purpose of my visit this time is because of my work,” he said.

From his experiences, he said he loves interacting with the Samoan people, whom he described as lovely and friendly.

He said he is looking forward to bringing his wife to Samoa when he can, so they will have the time to check out all the tourist sites, something he wasn’t able to do on this trip due to his work schedule.

As constructive feedback, he said Samoa needs to be doing a lot better in terms of marketing the country as a tourism destination.

“Cook Islands is being marketed a lot better,” he said. “I always go to the Cook Islands and I learned that there are more tourists going there than coming here.”

“So I think that you should market more of Samoa so the people can come.”
