Speed and alcohol are suspected in a crash at Eva on Sunday involving a Police Land Cruiser vehicle.

No one was injured but the Police officer driving the vehicle was lucky not to end up in the river at the area.

The left front tyre of the vehicle flew off when it crashed into the concrete safety blocks of the ford.

The crash was confirmed by Police Spokesperson, Su'a Muliaga Tiumalu.

“I can confirm that the Police are investigating the matter now,” he told the Samoa Observer.

He could not confirm or deny claims that alcohol was involved.

But an eyewitness who has asked to be kept anonymous said the Police should lead by example.

He told the Samoa Observer the incident could have been deadly.

He said the smell of alcohol was “extremely strong” in the vehicle and the driver looked like he was not all there.

“He seemed confused, walking up and down the street, as onlookers took photos and videos on their cellphones.”

In a short video clip, the Police officer can be seen standing next to the vehicle with his uniform unbuttoned.

He lit a smoke, walked up and down the road looking dazed and confused.
