Prom night promotes role of youth

Young people should know the importance of their involvement in every part of the community.

This was the main purpose of the ‘Maryanne Prom Night’ for the Apia Vikaliatu Youth Programme held last week.

The four parishes within the Vikaliatu region include, Matautu and Leonē, St Anthony, Taufusi, Togafu’afu’a, Saleufi and Vaimoso.

Father Losi Numia told the Samoa Observer that it’s not just a night to dress well but to remind them that they are future leaders of Samoa.

“They came up with this idea so instead of roaming on the streets during this time, they are here together under one roof focusing on something else with friends and families,”Father Losi said.

“To us (leaders of the church) we encourage youth involvement in developing and implementing activities.”

“What we are trying to tell them is that they are future leaders of the church and if they work together as one, fellowship with one heart then together they can make something beautiful.”
