Internet speed in Samoa just got even better.

This is thanks to Bluesky’s newly launched 4G+ internet speed.

e4G+ is a first for Samoa and is the fastest internet speed yet. Customers will be able to use the 4G+ beginning today and they will experience faster loading times and much much more.

Bluesky unveiled this technology last night during a press conference held at the Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Hotel.  But first things first. What is 4G+?

Bluesky C.E.O. Toleafoa Douglas Creevy said it’s an exciting step for Samoa.

“4G+ or LTE advanced is a term given to the latest fourth generation advanced  mobile networks.

The latest 4G+ to receive data from multiple bands. Bluesky’s superior 4G+ network operated 1800 megabits and 700 megahertz to deliver superior connection capabilities,” he said.

“Our superior 4G+ network is our biggest milestone and investment since 2011."

“4G+LTE is the next generation of4G or LTE, Blueksy is proud rot be the first to bring this technology to Samoa.

In an ideal scenario, our network will be 100 megabytes per second download and 40 megabits per second upload, naturally depending on many factors.”

Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Afamasaga Rico Tupa’i hailed the achievement.

“In so many ways Bluesky has demonstrated their commitment to Samoa and its people,” he said. “Furthermore, the dividend payments to U.T.O.S ,the local shareholder, is an indication of Blueskys’ commitment to giving back to the community.

“Bluesky has extended their commitment to the community by way of supporting our much loved Manu Samoa Rugby team, the Miss Samoa Pageant, Samoa Cancer Society and the Samoa Victims Support Group.

All this showcases a commitment from a committed organization to its people and its customers.

“All of this comes at a no better time then now, as we, the Government Samoa is making every effort to make Samoa the hub of the Pacific.

“The government has always been committed to making connectivity possible to ensure we deliver to our people.

With only a few affluent people of the community enjoy the benefit of having internet, this is partly because of the large sums needed to pay to satellite operators to bring this service to Samoa.

“With internet penetration as low as 7%in households in 2011, its very low when compared to out Pacific Island neighbours.”

“The launch of 4G+ by Bluesky is extremely relevant and timely. This is a significant investment from Bluesky and it’s an indication to invest in Samoa and grow the economy.”

Bluesky has recruited a star studded line-up to celebrate the wonderful achievement featuring the legendary George Veikoso also known as Fiji, Drew Deezy and more to perform on Friday in front of the government building. More details tomorrow.
