Tui Samoa Cable lands in Savai’i

Prime Minister Tuila’epa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi is scheduled to speak at the landing of the Tui Samoa Cable in Savai’i at Tuasivi today.

Tuilaepa is among a host of Cabinet Ministers and government officials who are in Savai’i for the event, which starts at 9.45am.

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Afamasaga Rico Tupa’i is also present.

The Samoa Submarine Cable project landed at Moata’a two weeks ago. 

The Cable promises faster, affordable internet access for Samoa.

It is supported by the governments of Samoa, Australia, Asian Development Bank (A.D.B.) and World Bank Group. 

When the Cable landed at Moata’a, it marked the start of the laying of 1,500 km of submarine cable to Suva, Fiji with spurs to Savai’i, the islands of Wallis and Futuna, and Savusavu on Vanua Levu, Fiji.
