Good Samaritan lends helping hand

A family at Tapatapao has a lot to be thankful for.

Neetia Faaeteete was featured in the Village Voice team section of the Samoa Observer last week Friday. She told of her struggle with her two-year-old daughter, Lupe Faaeteete, who was born prematurely.

Last week Saturday, a Good Samaritan who did not want his identity revealed, lended a hand by giving baby Lupe two large bottles of water and five 900 grams of Golden Farley Infant Powered milk.

The donation cost more than $200.

Baby Lupe’s father, Matile Faaeteete, was speechless.

“When the Village Voice team approached us last week we were kind of embarrassed to say anything,” he said.

“However, my wife was the one who told the team about her struggle and that shows how desperate she is to help our daughter.

“When they (Village Voice team) came over to our home that day, my daughter did not have her milk and we were trying to think of someone or anyone who can help us on that day.

“Then come Saturday, my wife and Lupe went early in the morning to the hospital because Lupe could not stop crying the whole of Friday night.

“They left early in the morning and they got home around 6pm.

“I started to get worried, but then I met my wife and my daughter while walking on the road to find a ride to go to the hospital.

“She came with the Good Samaritan on Saturday to drop them off and bring the products that they had bought for my daughter.”

The father of four said he was in tears when his wife introduced the Good Samaritan to him.

“So they found out that my wife and daughter were at the hospital and they went there,” said Mr. Faaeteete.

“They picked them up and dropped them home with the stuff that they bought.

“We are not blood related, but they went out of their way to help my daughter.

“It’s hard to find people such as them, I mean they could’ve just come and dropped off the stuff at home, but when they heard that Lupe and her mother were at the hospital, they decided to help them by bringing them home.

“All we could say is thank you because those are the only words that fit perfectly at the time.

“Who would have thought that someone will come all the way from the rural area just to help us out?”

Mrs. Faaeteete said what the Good Samaritans bought would last baby Lupe two months.

“It’s through them that people and families like us have a voice.

“And, I’m thankful to God for they have come at the right time and my prayer is that the Lord continues to bless the Samoa Observer and most especially this Good Samaritan for helping us out.”

For those still willing to help baby Lupe, her family can be contacted on 7248074.
