BETWEEN THE LINES

THE BEST

A big fa’amalo to the skilled and courageous E.P.C. staff who braved the winds and rain to restore power from broken and dangerous  power lines on Cross Island Road on Wednesday night in pitch darkness.

Nothing but admiration and sincere gratitude from residents affected.

THE FUNNIEST

While cocktail party speeches can sometimes be predictable affairs full of clichés, the N.Z.H.C.  Waitangi Day celebration’s blessing by Reverend Siaosi drew genuine laughter when he addressed guest and outgoing Australian High Commssioner, Sue Langford. While praising her for her achievements during her tenure in Samoa and wishing her the best for the future, he slyly said he would have made these comments at her own final function, had he been invited!

HOPE NOT

Hmmm. Hope this isn’t the start of a backtrack by the Minister of Communications, Afamasaga after his promises late last year about better and cheaper internet access for all. With the Office of the Regulator survey circulating and recent remarks by Afamasaga about others being involved in price setting , gone are the forthright claims and declarations of 2017 and admonitions to the media not to question him. Not impressive!
