A kiss from Judas

Dear Editor,

I almost vomited when the Prime Minister gave Ele a kiss on her cheek during the uneventful medal presentation for Ele Opeloge.

Why did he do that after everything he said about her? After he refused to give any monetary award to our heroine?

You see the thing is; everyone in this country knows who Ele is. She was born and raised in Samoa. She developed her talent in Samoa. She went out and represented our country in a lot of international competitions and won medals for Samoa.

This is the biggest achievement of her career and for Samoa as well. It’s just very disappointing to see that they didn’t give her anything. And this is after I saw in the paper that he raised $10,000 to send the stigmatic girl to Rome.

My question is; why did he even bother to turn up during the ceremony?

I felt sick in the stomach when I saw him smiling, clapping at Ele. Such a good actor.

But it made it worse when he gave her a kiss on the cheek. O le kisi a Iuka le fa’alaka.
