Taking a break from the blazing sunshine, holidaymakers Conan Hawthorn, aged 35, and Bobbijo Harrison, aged 27, could be found this morning perusing the aisles of the cooler flea market and admiring the handmade jewellery.

From a small town in Australia, they took the opportunity to visit Samoa to experience, in particular, the array of waterfalls.

“There’s such a big variety in quite a small place,” Bobbijo said in surprise.

The couple had researched their trip but found a lack of information regarding the activities and sights of the island.

Since their arrival they have been delighted to discover that there “is so many interesting things to see between the mountains, waterfalls and beaches.”

The Sopoaga Falls, located in Lotofaga Village, particularly impressed the pair with its outstanding natural beauty.

Sails restaurant in Mulinu’u, Apia, proved a big hit with the couple.

“The tuna was great,” Conan recommended a visit to any food lover travelling the island.

Having previously travelled to Bali, Manawatu and Fiji, Conan remarked that Samoa stands out for its lack of over development and urbanisation, which ensures the country maintains that all important “authentic feel”.

However, the feature that really seals the couple’s approval of the island is its outstanding reputation as a safe place to visit.

“It’s so safe here, you don’t have to worry about being ripped off or even locking your car!” Conan said this made a big change from their usual holiday experiences.

Samoa offers a retreat from the intensity of everyday life, an element that continues to impress the islands visitors.
