We all know the importance of water in our lives; ‘Water is Life’ we are frequently told.

Rosa Toetu, a mother of 12 has heard the information and seen the advertisements and while she agrees with it all, with no water supply, she is desperately in need of a water tank for her family’s day to day life.

“No one in our family has a job to earn money for our family so our only income is from our cocoa-plants which we sell to earn money” she told Village Voice

“We sell these cocoa plants just to get money for our children’s school fees and for our family faalavelave.“It goes together with village and church obligations at the same time, which costs us lots of money.

Rosa agrees that the cost of living is very expensive.

“We shouldn’t complain about the cost of living because life moves on as well as the cost of living increases.

“We are working really hard to develop our family and the only thing that we need help with is own water tank.

However, Rosa said that life in the village is great.

“Even though we don’t have that much, but I actually prefer this over living close to town because it’s peaceful.

“To be honest, I can just stay at home and focus on simple things.

“Here we grow up on learning to survive on what we have every day.

“My plan is to just live this life and put my children through school so that they can have whatever they want in the future and also to help out our family.

“As I’ve mentioned earlier, the only problem now is money, and everyone else is struggling as well.”
