IS THE WORLD ON LEAVE?

When is someone going to do a survey on the time taken to get a business licence in Samoa, a reader has asked the Observer?

According to this wanna-be business owner, dealing with M.C.I.L. and the Department of Inland Revenue is an exercise in extreme patience.

He has already readily admitted he is a failure in that area.

Despite having all the necessary paperwork on hand, “we’ll get back to you in three days’’ is the stock response as you inch your way to just out of reach success.

Sadly that one staff member who was supposed to have facilitated your paper work, didn’t because “they are on leave” or “the person needed to add a signature, is on leave” and so it goes on.

Another favourite deflecting tactic is the oft repeated, empty phrase, “We’ll get back to you.”

According to our experienced source, they won’t!
