Try Samoa, Jeremy will tell his friends

Jeremy Rits is from Auckland, New Zealand. He is in Samoa for a business trip. Dear Tourist met Mr. Rits at the Tanoa Tusitala Hotel yesterday.

It’s his first time in Samoa and he would like to see a lot more of the country.

“To be honest I haven’t seen much of the island as I am here for work,” he said.

“It’s hot but can’t really change that and for someone like me, I’m trying to get used to it.”

Although he hasn’t seen much, Mr. Rits said what he has impresses him . The flea market at Savalalo is a fascinating place.

“I took a walk down to the flea market this afternoon just to have a look around at some souvenirs to take home,” he told Dear Tourist.

“There were so many things that caught my attention at the flea market and most especially the people.

“They are very nice and friendly. They said hello out of nowhere and that is something we don’t get back home because New Zealand is a bit fast and so everyone sort of just rushes to do their own stuff.

“But here people do stop and say hello and ask how you are doing and if you are enjoying the trip, so it’s a different feeling having to talk to some friendly local people.

“What makes Samoa unique is the fact that the people are unique and friendly.”

Even amidst the busy schedule, he still commended the service by the staff of the Tanoa Tusitala Hotel.

“Staying at Tanoa Tusitala has been great. The hotel is nice, the rooms are clean and smell fantastic, the staff is really friendly and most especially the service is perfect,” Mr. Rits added.

“I would recommend my friends who come for business to stay here.

“The food is just great, even though I haven’t had local food but I do enjoy the Vailima, it’s perfect and it’s got that local taste as well.

“It’s a beautiful beer.

“The next time I come back will be for a friend’s wedding which is next year and I am looking forward to that trip because I will definitely have the time to actually enjoy myself and most definitely be exploring the island.

“I was told it won’t be here in Upolu but in the other island so that would be great and I just can’t wait.”

Mr. Rits was also asked whether Samoa needed to improve on any aspect to attract more tourists.

“I think if people wanted to come to Samoa they would because most people know Samoa through rugby.

“Maybe market the destination more online, but Samoa is just unique because of its people, culture and tradition,” he said.
