Oriana Netball Academy loses in friendlies

Well done to Oriana Netball for stepping up to the plate and taking on the opposition.

It’s always hard to see your child’s team come out the other end of a game with such results, but I commend Samoa as a community for embracing Netball more than I have ever seen before recent times.

If I could suggest that players and parents continue to be patient and grow their love and skill of the game. You have to remember that the girls from overseas come from backgrounds that almost live and breathe netball, with a steep history in the sport.

They have most likely have had coaches who played at premier levels, and some who have parents who played since they were youngsters, so players from countries such as NZ and Australia have such an advantage — that they could probably form a team a week before and still perform quite well.

Keep at it Samoa! I’m very happy to see that someone is investing their time and effort into creating opportunities for our girls back at home through a sport I love! It’s early days and with patience and continued healthy support it can only get better.
