Golf for a great cause

People had different ways of spending their Mother’s Day holiday on Monday.

For the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa at Vini-fou, the church celebrated with a friendly golf tournament at the Fagali’i Golf Course and with a raffle for the welfare of the church.

It was not the first time Vini-fou had a golf tournament.

According to Leota Tima Le’avai, the first golf tournament they had was held back in 2011 to raise funds for building a new church in Vini-fou.

The church was opened in 2014, but they saw how successful the tournament was in assisting the congregation with its projects so they decided to have it every two years.

“The golf-tournament is not only held for us to come together and enjoy a friendly game, but most importantly, it is held to raise funds for the development of the church and for the maintenance of our church building,” said Leota.

“It is always a way to bring our families and friends together away from their daily routine to enjoy and have fun. And at the same time, do things for the glory of God.”

Leota said they’ve had a lot of supporters who showed interest in their tournament and she wanted to acknowledge and thank everyone who has supported them.
