Christian radio station, Laufou o le Talalelei, commemorated its third year anniversary at Mulinu’u yesterday.

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Afamasaga Rico Tupa’i, congratulated Youth For Christ (Y.F.C.) which operates the station.

And to help promote the station, the Minister is offering to install a billboard in front of the radio station that will read “Laufou o le Talalelei” 95.1 and 103.1FM.

“I am one of the people who love listening to Laufou, it’s a station that builds our spiritual lives through songs, scriptures and most especially the word of God,” said Afamasaga.

“I believe that this organisation is an army based on God and our work is to win lives for the kingdom of God.”

Chairman of the Board for the Youth for Christ, Leota Kosi Latū, said the radio station started in 1997.

“There was a time when the station was closed for five years,” said Leota.

“It wasn’t an easy task to do when Laufou was re-opened because it was a lot of work, not in terms of finances, but also equipment that were needed for the reopening.”

“And for that I want to acknowledge the work of Manasa Aloali’i, he was the one who worked hard in re-opening of the radio station, the Union of Christian Broadcasters who came to help in the reopening of the station and not only that but our other partners not in Upolu and Savaii but also they are from American Samoa and Australia.”

Leota said they have partners who help with cash power and other programmes from Australia and overseas support their work.

Pastor Talomua Nonu said the Laufou o le Talalelei helps connect the Gospel to Samoa.

“Let this radio station be the number one station in Samoa,” he said.

“Our broadcasting is not entertainment, but it is the proclamations of the good news of God. So every opportunity we have on air make sure the opportunity is put into good use.”

“I also want to remind you that Laufou o le Talalelei radio station is an open door that God has given us to deliver the Good news.”
