Samoa overcomes Uruguay

Samoa A has secured a much-needed win in their first match of the America’s Pacific Challenge  against Uruguay A, scraping home 44-42.  

Uruguay held a tight lead until the sparingly last remaining moments of the game with Patrick Faapale’s game winning penalty kick that put Samoa  in the victory seat. 

Try scorers were Oneone Fa’afou, Meki Magalele,  Ope Peleseuma, Suamalie Tuiletufuga, and Laaloi Leilua. 

Ope Peleseuma’s second try of the match came within minutes of the kick off  second half, followed up with another try for Samoa A from Tuileutufuga. 

One yellow card was issued to Nephi Leatigaga in the 40th minute of the second half of the match for collapsing the scrum.  

The tournament is set to take place from the 8th- 16th of October.  The team advances with another heavy match-up against the Fiji Warriors, October the 12th at 12 noon local Uruguay time.
