A bright young girl whose goal is to become an Astronomer in the future has made her parents very proud.
Mareta A’aone Malifa, 13, from Tanugamanono and Afega topped Apia Primary School. Adding to the buzz at the celebration is the fact she is on her way to Samoa College next year.
“My big goal was to become first in class this year,” she said. “I did it and my second goal is top in the entry examination which I also achieved. I feel very happy that I have made my parents very proud.”
Mareta is the youngest of Fuatia Kuki and Fata Pito Malifa’s six children.
“I want to say thank you to my parents especially my father who has been my inspiration to strive for the best even though he does not show it,” she said.
“It’s not the end of my journey so I just pray to God to guide me as I will be attending Samoa College next year.”
One of her favorite subjects is Science. Asked why she wants to become Astronomer, she said she is interested in the study of the universe and stars.
Her mother, Fuatia, who is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Arts at the National University of Samoa, said they would do their best to ensure her daughter achieves her goal.
“I will support her in any way I can so that she can be an astronomer,” she said.
