With Georgia out of the way, the Manu Samoa’s focus has shifted to Fiji for the opening of their Pacific Nations Cup campaign, starting this weekend.

Manu Samoa is expected to make a number of changes from last weekend’s team to the side that will play the Flying Fijians on their home soil.

The men in blue were lucky to escape with a 19-all draw against a determined Georgia team at Apia Park on Saturday.

Both Coach Namulauulu Alama Ieremia and Captain, David Lemi, admitted that they were lucky they did not lose. They were also adamant that they could do a lot better and have promised to work on their set pieces.

Fiji will be a lot tougher opponent for Samoa.

Last Saturday, Fijian No.8 Eremasi Radrodro scored the winning try against Tonga to cap off a remarkable come back from the home team.

Asked for a comment, the 28-year-old told the Fiji Sun that he needs to lift his performance against Samoa this weekend.

“I’ve really learned a lot from the senior players,” he said.

“For me personally I will try to improve some of my weaknesses before the next game.

“One of my major weakness today was my defence but the senior players kept talking to me on the field about the areas I have to cover and now I have learned the stuff expected of me which I will try to implement in the next game.”

Manu Samoa leaves for Fiji today.

They held their last training session at St. Joseph’s College yesterday evening.
