Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi has congratulated Seabreeze Resort for winning "Samoa's Leading Hotel" award for the fifth consecutive year at the 24th annual World Travel Awards.

The owners of the boutique resort at Aufaga, Chris and Wendy Booth, arrived with the award yesterday from China and were immediately congratulated during a special ceremony at the Samoa Tourism Authority compound.

“We are all indeed very proud of Seabreeze’s achievement which we can put squarely on the shoulders of the management, owners of Seabreeze,” Tuilaepa said.

“Tourism will continue to be the mainstream of the economy of Samoa."

“The government will continue to invest heavily on the facilities and infrastructure to ensure that we will continue to develop and grow our industry in Samoa for the benefit of getting more and more jobs for our young ones as well as ensuring the security of market for our fishermen and for our farmers who need to work hard to provide the food to feed the people that come to visit our shores.

“So on behalf of the government I congratulate the management of Seabreeze and also the staff because it is their service that contributes immensely to the award and the reason why we are here to celebrate.”

The Booths acknowledged the support of their staff members.

“It’s never easy and it is through hard work,” Mr. Booth said.

“Everyone that’s here plays a role in tourism even the people from the paper to the people who are doing the catering everyone it is all part of tourism and it is a big picture."

“It is something that everybody can take part in.”

Wendy Booth spoke about how the resort is run and how they maintain it.

“We have a philosophy at Seabreeze where we say “Friends who play together stay together” and that’s how we run the resort, as one huge big family,” Mrs. Booth told the gathering.

“We have our ups and downs like any family but we get over them. We find the solution to the problem so for me sustaining tourism is far more than just serving guests.”
