The Police are investigating the death of a 60-year-old father who was shot dead at Faleatiu at the end of last month.

Confirmed by Police Media Officer, Su’a Muliaga Tiumalu, he told the Samoa Observer they are still searching for suspects.

“All I can say at this stage is that there is an investigation,” he said.

“The investigation team has some leads and they are following it but the investigation is continuing and I cannot discuss the details.”

The body of the elderly man was discovered by villagers about 300 meters from his home.

Su’a said the Police have been told that the deceased man went to fetch coconuts that morning when the incident happened.

He said police found wounds on the back of his head and on his back when his body was taken to the hospital.

He confirmed that the injuries sustained by the deceased man are from a gun.

Su’a said they are still waiting for a gun expert to examine the bullets found on the deceased to confirm the type of weapon used.
