Samoa Rugby Union Chief Executive Officer, Faleomavaega Vincent Fepulea’i, has expressed disappointment that Board members leaked confidential emails.

He said the emails were confidential and should not have been made public. The emails were written by Namulauulu Sami Leota and Seumanu Douglas Ngau Chun.

The two board members questioned the recruitment process, which led to the hiring of Steve Jackson last month as the new Manu Samoa head coach. The emails were directed to Faleomavaega and members of the S.R.U. were copied.

Faleomavaega said he was disheartened when he learnt of the emails leaking.

“It was disheartening for me, when I am doing my job to the best of my ability, in what I know is best for the S.R.U."

“Also this is an internal matter and I would think that professionalism principle would apply but sadly that was not the case."

“My role is to provide information to the panel and it’s their decision who to select not me,” he said.

Prime Minister and S.R.U. Board Chairman, Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi, recently said that the Board had agreed that the decision of the interview panel will be final and they will accept it.

Though, the P.M. did indicate that the Board could change the decision of the interview panel, which has happened before in the history of the S.R.U.
