Faumuina Asi Pauli Wayne Fong’s vandalised billboard sign has been damaged again.

Asked for his reaction, Faumuina said he still has a forgiving heart.

“I have not much to say but (I’ll just) keep on forgiving and move on.” At the site, there is a name painted underneath the sign ‘=300=’ together with the damage and painting on the billboard. On his facebook page, Faumuina's son, Deejay Fong expressed his disappointment  over the senseless vandalism.

“What purpose are you trying to achieve?”

“It’s hard to believe that we have people in this country who can go this low and resort to such actions.

“The first time it happened, we gave it the benefit of the doubt. As deliberate as it might have seemed, we thought to ourselves

“No, people seriously can’t be this senseless” and wrote if off as a result of bad luck.

He wrote that the second time around, has proven them gravely wrong.

“The most disappointing thing about this act(s) is not the damage caused to the billboard, nor the damage caused to my dad’s campaign, nor the money and time spent on creating, re-fixing and re-installing these boards.

“The most disappointing thing to take out of this is the reflection it portrays on our society today.

“There are better, more legitimate ways to prove your point instead of resorting to acts of vandalism.

“People must learn to understand that.”

Faumuina is running as a candidate for the Urban West Constituency seat under the ruling Human Rights Protection Party (H.R.P.P).

Having grown up at Faleata, Faumuina’s candidacy is a first for his village of Vaigaga.

In a previous interview, Faumuina said he believed there is a lot of potential in his constituency that he could help uncover and nurture.

He said developments should always be about people and placing their needs above all else.
