Fathers reminded to make God the top priority

It was a day to celebrate with love and humility and a reminder to fathers everywhere of the priorities they should be setting in their families.

That was the main reason behind Father’s Day celebrations in Samoa for many families and churches on Sunday.

For the Congregational Christian Church at Vaitele-Uta, the theme for this year was to ‘Seek God’.

Close to 30 fathers took part in the sermon and they were divided into four groups and performed different skits in line with the theme.

The service was conducted by Rev. Mua’o Su’a during which he stressed the importance of putting God first every day.

“For Joshua and his family they’ve decided to serve the Lord, they’ve decided to let God lead the way in every situation.

“Joshua said to the people of Israel choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the Gods whom your fathers served that were on the other side of the river, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell.

“But as for me (Joshua) and my house; we will serve the Lord.

He emphasised the importance of the message: ‘E le o le fale ae o le anofale.’

“Each and every one of us has our own idols we bow down to every day in our houses and everywhere we go.

“We forget to bow down to the one who has been good to us, the one and only God who has given us many victories.

“As for me and my house; we will serve the Lord.’

“Fathers, we have to make time spent with Him our top priority, cultivate our relationship with the Lord and seek Him in all of our plans and situations.

“This establishes his Kingdom in our minds, hearts, and livee and also for the good of our  families and our children.

“God bless all the fathers in Samoa!
