Getting the priorities right

Prioritizing the essentials in life is crucial nowadays.

Ricky Seiuli, 45, made this comment while referring to the high cost of living in Samoa today.

“Well I guess things were pretty much easier before and now the money I make from my job is really not enough,” Ricky told Village Voice while on his way home yesterday.

The single lad from the village of Tanumapua believes the cost of living is a real threat to Samoa.

Ricky Seiuli lives alone but despite this, he still thinks life is hard given the cost of things from supermarkets and local shops.

“Before I used to buy groceries in small quantity, but now I think it is cheaper to get wholesale packets.”

Ricky is currently working at the Craig Construction Company as a laborer and he really enjoys his work.

“I have been working here at Craig Construction for so long and I really enjoy working here given the money we earn from the job here.”

He also mentioned how he deals with the expensive cost of living.

“Right now at this stage, with the high cost of living we have witnessed, it is better for us to spend less on items that we hardly need like smoke and beer.”

“We just have to spend more on paying cash power and running water because these are the most important factors in our daily life and instead of buying expensive foods, we can always plant out own root crops,” Ricky added.
