Police investigate pedestrian incidents

The Police are investigating two separate incidents involving pedestrians in Savai’i and Upolu.

The first one occurred at Gataivai Savai’i involving a 3-year-old girl and her uncle.

The Police say they were walking on the side of the road at Gataivai when a taxi driven by the suspect lost control and slammed into them.

The victims were taken to Tuasivi hospital for medical treatment. 

A 27-year-old man from Pitonuu Satupa’itea has been charged with negligent driving causing bodily injury. 

He was remanded on bail and is required to sign in at Vaito’omuli Police post every Monday until the 19 December 2018 for his Court appearance.

The second incident happened at Moata’a last week.

The Police said the victim was crossing the road when the incident happened. 

“The suspect failed to stop to ascertain whether the victim is to be taken to the hospital,” the Police say. “Witness at the scene took the victim to the hospital.”

 A 42-year-old man from Samusu and Leauva’a has been charged with negligent driving causing injury.
