The Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture (M.E.S.C.) launched some key policy documents yesterday at the Aute Conference Room, Malifa.

Among the documents launched were the National Sports in Education Policy, National Sports Framework, and National I.C.T. in Education Policy, National Culture Framework, and National Culture in Education Policy, National Cultural Industries Policy, National Heritage Policy and National School T.V.E.T. Policy.

The Minister of Education, Loau Solamalemalo Sio, hailed the development a positive step for education in Samoa when he cut the ribbon to launch the documents.

The Chief Executive Officer of M.E.S.C, Afamasaga Dr. Karoline Fuata’i, said the policies will play a significant role in further improving education in Samoa.

They said all the policies were funded by the Government with the exception of one policy, which was funded by U.N.E.S.C.O.

The documents, she added, is a collective achievement for the education sector.

“Simply because if you would look at the history in our statistical digest you will know that in the 2015 to 2016 financial year, M.E.S.C. only developed two policies, one E.C.E. policy which was an outstanding one and then we had school violence.”
