Iopu Falasia and his family need a water tank.

The 54-year-old from Malie told the Village Voice that water is what they need.

“I don’t mind having to work for everything else but with water, we are trying our best to save so that the authorities can install a water system.

“This is not easy because we cannot afford to get the government’s water and our house is located in an area where the government’s water connection cannot reach.

“It takes time for us to save up money, because we only have the plantation,” he said.

“We sell taro, bananas and yam and let’s face it; the income we earn is not really the type of income that makes you a rich person, it’s enough for our food and other basic needs.

“I try to be an understanding person in this life so even with the high cost of living; we don’t waste time complaining but we what we can and pray for a miracle for our water situation,” he told the Village Voice.

According to Mr.Falasia, they have been living in Malie for quite a long time and water access has always been their number one problem.

“We fetch water from our next door neighbor.

“That is why I am asking for a water tank to store our water; so that we don’t’ have to fetch water all the time.

“If there’s one thing our family needs and must have, it’s a steady source of water.

“I can cope with the situation if it was just me, but like any father, we are responsible for our families.

“I do worry about my family especially my young son.

“As adults trying to survive through a world with only a little bit of water; then imagine your young child trying to do the same?

“It doesn’t seem okay and the thought is scary,” said Falasia.
