Marist Brother’s Primary School at Mulivai received a financial assistance of $50,000 from the Marist Old Pupils Association (M.B.O.P.A.).

This funding, which was raised during the recent 130 years anniversary of Marist education in Samoa, is part of the association’s contribution to the development of the school.

Marist Brother’s Primary School Principal, Brother Siaosi Ioane expressed his gratitude the continuous support of the association. 

“The donation will be allocated in helping pay for the teachers’ salaries along with developments in the school compound,” Brother Siaosi said.  

“The focus ever since I took over as principal is to uplift the educational level in terms of academic achievements by the students in the school. 

“At the moment I am working closely with the teachers in implementing strategic plans like putting focus on literacy and numeracy.”

M.B.O.P.A’s President, Tuatagaloa Aumua Ming Leung Wai said Marist education has shaped them to become the people they are today.

“The values that they were taught by the Marist Brothers are still kept alive through each one of them and they have a sense of obligation to give back to where it all started for them,” Tuatagaloa said. 

“M.B.O.P.A. stands firmly in fundraising activities that looks to maintain and develop the Marist schools in Samoa in order to provide better opportunities for all its students in both education and sports.

“We would like to acknowledge our sponsors like Taula Beverages, Samoa Stationery and Books (S.S.A.B.), the Marist fraternity, supporters and families which helped in achieving a prosperous 130 years anniversary.” 

Tuatagaloa said their hope is for the students of the school to continue the legacy that the Marist Brothers have started and become good citizens of Samoa.
